First Nations Mountain Pine Beetle Initiative

Building Partnerships

In response to the mountain pine beetle epidemic, the BC First Nations Leadership Council brought together 97 First Nations in the fall of 2005. As a result of this gathering, a need to develop a harmonized strategy between First Nations, the Governments of British Columbia and Canada, industry and the broader community was identified. To help meet this need, the First Nations Mountain Pine Beetle Initiative (FNMPBI) was established on April 1, 2006.

The FNMPBI is a partnership between the Province of B.C. (Ministry of Forests & Range) and the First Nations Leadership Council facilitated by Four Directions Management Services Limited.

The First Nations Mountain Pine Beetle Initiative is funded by the Ministry of Forests & Range, Province of British Columbia.
